Autumn, start of the cold season.

Two meanings for cold here, the temperature is definitely dropping and I have packed away my summer clothes and replaced them with wool jumpers. The change seems to have happened really quickly after the warm sunshine last week.

Perhaps the abrupt change of weather is responsible for the second type of cold, horrible, sniffly, sore throat like sandpaper, shaky, shivery, achy cold. My oldest son succumbed first and then in the way families share things he passed it on to me. I very rarely get colds but this one has totally wiped me out, I've slept for the best part of three days just managing to pull myself together for the school run and to get something resembling a meal on the table.

I'm feeling a bit less sleepy today so perhaps I can fit in a bit of gentle knitting between my naps.

Poor you :( hope you are on the mend soon - lots of hot lemon and honey drinks is always my remedy :)

Sorry about the cold :( i was just going through diaries yesterday and remembering that I had about 10 colds the first year we lived in Scotland. I could not believe it! (After only having 1 cold or less a year before that!)

Sorry to hear you're not well. I always find that a cammomile tea (great for soothing a sore throat), with honey , lemon and a wee drop of whisky in does the trick. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh no! It really is that time of year and I'm dreading getting something from work, which is sometimes like germ soup with people coughing and sneezing - ick!

Hope you're feeling better soon - honey, lemon and hot water are what I can recommend.

Peppermint tea is my favourite cure for a stuffy nose -- while you're waiting for the tea to cool off enough to drink, inhale the steam coming off it, and it will help clear out your nose...

Thank you for all you kind comments. I have been drinking lots of honey and lemon and am feeling a bit better today. I have put peppermint tea on my shopping list. I used to have some peppermint growing in the garden but it seems to have disappeared - I blame the chickens!
