Corn Marigolds

I have noticed this field, yellow with corn marigolds, for a few weeks. Today I walked down with my camera to take a closer look.

The flowers are growing amongst a crop of peas but in this area the marigolds seem to have the upper hand.

The individual flowers are very striking.

A definition of a weed is " a plant growing in the wrong place" - the farmer might not welcome these flowers but the field did look particularly beautiful in the sunshine.

Hi Ginny,
I don't think that I did notice the typical marigold smell that you get with the garden variety. I'm not even sure that they are closely related although they do have similar leaves.
