Saturday dawned bright and sunny, a beautiful morning and I decided to drive a little way to a hill with good views for my walk. As it was such a nice day I packed a flask of coffee in my rucksack.
As I got nearer I drove into the mist and by the time I had parked the car it was quite dense. Power lines faded into the distance
and trees became visible only as I walked towards them.
It felt quite eerie.
The cobwebs on the wheat were pretty.
The shapes of the trees were silhouetted against grey nothingness.
I stopped for my coffee but there was no view.
It was a bit chilly too, first time for mitts this autumn.
Then, as I walked back to the car, slowly the mist lifted.
It was magical as more and more of the countryside came into view.
By the time I reached the car it was clear.
I have been feeling a bit foggy myself lately. August has been good, I have some holiday photos to post, but underlying worries about ageing parents and their deteriorating health are never far from my mind. Living at a distance from family members is not easy and I hope we can sort out some solutions to the situation. I must remind myself that this time will pass and we will get something in place in the same way that the mist clears away on a foggy day.

What a lovely walk! I felt like I was there with you.
Our parents lived really far away and we did what we could but felt bad we couldn't see them on a daily basis. I think they did love the time we were there though. I comfort myself with that. (They have al passed now.
Please know I am thinking about you!

Thank you for your comment. I think this is a difficult time of life for many especially with family members living at a distance from each other. As you say, we do what we can given the circumstances.
Oh I just love the fog!!! I would enjoy that walk so much! Still very hot here and two friends caught Lymes disease this summer in the park I love to walk in so have been leary about ticks. Autumn will be here soon though. I need to make myself some cotton mitts. I have wool ones but as I get older I get more and more irritated by wool (so sad!!). Must start them soon so they will be ready when I need them!

It was very magical walking through the mist. Lyme disease can be so nasty but at least your friends know, it can go undiagnosed so easily. I am also wary of ticks and always walk in long trousers, shoes and socks in the countryside even when it is far too hot - you can't be too careful.
We have warm muggy weather today, September can be so changeable. It is one of my favourite months, I shall think of you this afternoon when I plan to go blackberry picking.
