Today that happened and I spent a very pleasant couple of hours sewing.
There seem to be loads of bags appearing on craft blogs at the moment which can only be a good thing if it means that less plastic bags are being used. I got the idea for this one from Simmy who made hers with vintage William Morris fabric. Mine is not so glamorous, both the fabrics are left-overs, the green check from my younger son's bedroom curtains and the tulip fabric from our cloakroom curtains. Feeling very pleased with myself for creating a bag at no cost, I showed the family - the teenage verdict, "it looks just like a cushion, you're not going to use it outside the house are you?" - don't you find, children always bring you straight back down to earth!

I think your bag is lovely - I love the tulips!. In fact it is nicer than a lot of the bags you see around at the moment (I'm old enough to remember the "retro" style the first time round and I didn't those geometric designs even then!).

I think you should be very proud of yourself...You have made a useful bag with your own fair hands by being resoureful and recycling your old fabrics. something we should encourage everyone to have a go at. ( even your sons!).
It''s still rainy here in hampshire this morning... so maybe you can enjoy some more indoor craft as the garden will water itself.

It's a really pretty bag. Someone told me recently to ignore all fashion or appearance comments given by teenage boys and men because they have NO IDEA. Very sound advice.
I love your bag, it's such a feminine and very useful bag - you clever thing!
As for the rain, it doesn't seem to want to stop right now! Our poor ceiling in the kitchen has a leak!
