Grey Days

The weather has been very grey lately. Yesterday it was dull and grey but not actually raining, the sort of weather when the washing just hangs limply on the washing line until you bring it in just as wet as when you hung it out.

My youngest has been off school with a sore throat and a hacking cough (which I am hoping he will not share with the rest of us) so the mood at home is not cheerful.

The garden still has some colour though so I took my camera into the garden to capture the little patches of brightness.

Maybe November isn't so dull and grey after all.

It is so hard to imagine how cold it is there when we are beginning to melt here ! The berries are amazing, you have such a lovely garden, even in winter. Have a good day.

Its only since reading blogs from all over the world that I've really thought about the differences in the seasons. Its something that you learn about at school and then don't give much thought to. Its not just the major differences such as between the northern and southern hemisphere but also the differences within a large country like different parts of Australia or the US. I enjoy the little glimpses into the lives of those who live in these very different climates and places.

Lovely photos especially the top one of the trees against the sky. Hope your youngest is feeling better and has kept everything to himself:)

Rowan,
The photo of the trees was taken from my garden. The houses are quite new, about 20 years, but the row of trees on the boundary was left. There are the oaks and a silver birch in the picture and on their left out of view is a scots pine. Its really lovely to watch the seasons change through the trees.

I love the cotoneaster (it is cotoneaster, right?)! It looks really Art Nouveau-ish.

Yes, it is cotoneaster. I didn't plant it, the seed/berry must have been dropped by a bird but its now growing very attractively just in front of the shed so I shall leave it there. I like a free gift.

November was quite colourful this year, surprisingly so for what is otherwise a month that always makes me think of cloudy, cold, grey days.

Lovely photos and I hope your son gets better soon. Honey and lemon works a treat!
