Oh dear.

Its been very windy in the south of England not really gales but still enough to blow over my little greenhouse and scatter the pots of salads all over the patio. I was very proud of my baby salad garden but as the saying goes "pride comes before a fall".

As the greenhouse was wedged in between a bay tree and the house and was also right against the fence I thought it would be safe but obviously not. I've weighted the bottom shelf down with a paving slab and am hoping that will make it more stable.

I think I will sow a few pots with rocket seed as that is usually quite hardy but I'm not sure whether other salad seeds germinate in December. I will have to experiment.

Oh, I am so sorry! I thought your little greenhouse was the most perfect little thing ever. Good luck getting some new stuff to grow!

How sad! We've been having strong winds here (Midwest USA) in the last 12 hours.

What a shame... can some plants be salvaged?
This happened to me before.. i have the same mini greenhouse. I used some old bricks to weight the bottom down which seemed to work, although with really strong wind it still felt like it would take off. Hope you have success with the new sowings.

So sorry!

There are several varieties of lettuces which will germinate in the winter, but they grow VERY slowly. I started some lettuces last November I think and they weren't big enough to eat for about three months!

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your greenhouse. Perhaps you could get the germination process off to a good start in the house and moving them very tentatively outside (as long as the temperature is not too much of a shock). Thw winds are still gusting here, but it's so mild! I had washing out on the line!
