Finished knitting
Finished at last. This jumper has been almost two years in the making. It was originally going to be a fitted v-neck jumper and although I tried it on many times while knitting, it wasn't until I had completely finished it that I decided that I really didn't like it. It stayed bundled away out of sight until last September when I unpicked the whole lot and started again.
This time I like it, a very long tunic jumper. It is slightly fitted at the waist and I like the shape, the neckline and the cable and pattern that I chose for both front and back. It would be just how I imagined it if I hadn't run out of wool. Knitting from the top down I continued until the wool run out but when I tried it on it wasn't as long as I wanted. No hope of getting more of the same wool so I rummaged through my left over wools and chose this autumnal variegated wool. The length is now just how I want it and I am beginning to get used to the coloured stripe around the hem.
Although I am fed up with winter and longing for some milder weather, I wouldn't mind a few cold days so I get a chance to wear this before putting it away for next winter.

YAY!! It's beautiful! i love the cable pattern you chose. I'm just an hour or so away from finishing my very first adult-sized sweater/cardigan. I'm so excited. Can't wait to post a picture. I'm unsure of the length. I wanted it long -- one sister said make it longer, the other (along with mother and husband) said it was long enough. What to do? We'll see how it all blocks out! And then onto something for the baby I think.
gosh, you're good! I've only ever managed a scarf for hubby. If you want to get full use of jumper - come to Shetland! I'm snowed in at mo!! Beautiful days
That is absolutley gorgeous! I think the colored stripe at the bottom really gives it character. If I hadn't read the rest of your post, I would have thought it was intended. A real beautiful project. :)
It looks amazing---so well done. And you must have incredible patience...I think if I would have unraveled it I may never have come back. It's beautiful and I love the pattern on the front :)
i think it looks great. i love the colour and i do think you will still be able to wear it for some time as it is still so very chilly.
sending you lots of love

Thank you for your comments.
It is still a bit wintry here so I'll be wearing this at the weekend although I am glad that the recent band of snow that hit the UK missed this area.
This is beautiful. I will admit that I doggedly choose projects that I can finish quickly but have just started a baby blanket that I think is going to take months! I will keep some sox in the knitting bag for the times when I need to feel the happiness of finishing!
That is fantastic - so creative! And the end result is lovely.
